FDA Authorizes NJOY Tobacco-Flavored E-Cigarettes

The Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday said it will allow tobacco-flavored E-Cigarette refill cartridges made by NJOY Holdings, deciding their benefits for smokers outweighed the risks of underage vaping.

The agency rejected blueberry- and watermelon-flavored cartridges the company wanted to bring back on the market. The FDA said it is still reviewing NJOY's menthol refill pods, as well as all of NJOY's disposable e-cigarettes.

NJOY is the third largest U.S. e-cigarette maker after Juul Labs and Reynolds American, which are roughly neck-and-neck in first place for sales in stores tracked by Nielsen.

The FDA has said it will soon issue decisions on Juul and Reynolds American Inc.'s Vuse Alto brand.
